The start

Consultation appointment
In most cases your dentist would have referred you to us.
Please bring all your, i.e. the patient’s, relevant X-rays that are no older than 12 months. During the appointment, we will carefully assess whether orthodontic treatment makes sense at any given time.

Records appointment
During the so-called records appointment, we gather all diagnostic documentation relevant for planning the treatment. This includes, making impressions of your teeth and taking X-rays as well as photos to capture the current situation. However, we do not just examine the teeth and jaw – it is also very important to determine the position of the tongue and the way you speak. We manually check the functioning of your jaw-joints. This is the only way to deduce methodically, whether we should consult other specialists, like ear, nose and throat doctors, speech therapists, radiologists or dentists. At this stage, we can already give you an overview of the necessary treatment.

The treatment plan
Using a special diagnostic program, our doctors will evaluate your past oral medical records, along with the X-rays, photos and models. Based on all existing data, Dr. Banach and Dr. Strempel will formulate a detailed treatment plan for the patient. If you are a member of a statutory health insurance scheme, we will send the treatment plan to the insurer for approval. If you are privately insured, you will receive the treatment plan for your submission to the insurer.

Starting the treatment
As soon as we receive the treatment plan approval, we can start with the actual treatment.

Please make sure to present us with a copy of the treatment plan signed by you.

 The first days

(120 von 126)

In the first few days after implementing a new treatment device, the body usually needs time to adjust to any changes – especially inside the mouth.
It reacts by producing excessive saliva, and there might be pressure on the teeth or heightened sensitivity. Speech might also be impaired. The soft tissues (tongue, gums, lips, inner cheeks) feel aggravated. However, after a week, at most, your body should get used to these changes.

Should your appliance still trouble you, even after a reasonable adaptation phase, please contact us immediately.
